Biography:

Daya Shankar Pandey, an Indian actor in both film and television, has graced the Hindi movie industry with his presence in notable films such as “Lagaan,” “Gangajaal,” “Swades,” and “Raajneeti.” At present, he takes on the role of Inspector Chalu Pandey in the widely watched soap opera “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah”.

Born on November 19, 1965, in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, Daya Shankar Pandey embarked on his film career with his debut in the 1993 movie “Pehla Nasha.” His breakthrough came in 2001 when he portrayed Goli in the acclaimed film “Lagaan.” The following year, in 2002, he took on the role of a school teacher in the movie “Makdee”.

In 2003, his performance as Sub-Inspector Mangni Ram in the action crime-drama “Gangaajal,” alongside Ajay Devgan, garnered attention. In the year 2004, Daya Shankar Pandey played the character of Mela Ram in the drama film “Swades,” directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. His portfolio expanded in 2005 when he appeared as D.S. Pandey in the supernatural-horror film “Kaal”.

In 2008, he assumed the role of Dayashankar Pandey in the mystery-thriller movie “Woodstock Villa.” The year 2013 saw him in the action film “Zanjeer,” where he portrayed Inspector Prem, a remake of the Hindi movie of the same name. His foray into the Bhojpuri film industry happened in 2017 with the action-romance movie “Satya,” in which he played the character Tabrez Ansari.

In 2018, he graced the Gujarati cinema with his presence in the adventure-drama film “Reva,” playing a character known as Gandu Fakir. In 2021, he took on the role of Brijraj Saxena in the romantic mystery-thriller movie “Haseen Dilruba.” Additionally, he starred as Parag Tripathi in the vigilante-action film “Satyameva Jayate 2” in the same year.

Daya Shankar Pandey marked his television debut with the crime-drama series “Tehkikaat” on DD National in 1994. Subsequently, he appeared in the TV comedy serial “Ghar Jamai” as Hotel Union Leader and Robert, which aired on Zee TV in 1997. In 2000, he featured in the Sahara One dramedy series “Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai” as Jogi, a show based on a story about a middle-class girl. His ongoing role as Inspector Chalu Pandey in the popular drama-comedy series “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” on SAB TV has captivated audiences since 2010.
