American actor Laurence John Fishburne III, was born on July 30, 1961. His portrayals of forceful and authoritative characters on stage and cinema have garnered him accolades throughout his career. After making his screen debut in Apocalypse Now (1979), Fishburne gained more notoriety for his supporting part in Boyz n the Hood (1991). He then gained notoriety for his roles as the Bowery King in the John Wick movie series (2017–) and Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy (1999–2003).
Fishburne received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role as Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It (1993). In addition, he has received a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in Two Trains Running (1992) and six Emmy Awards for various television productions. In addition, he has been nominated for five Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Golden Globe.
