Arun Vijay

Biography:

Since he was little, Vijay has wanted to be an actor. He became really interested after observing his father work on set for films. When he was in the tenth grade, Vijay began to receive film offers, but his father insisted that he finish school before performing in films.

1995. R. Rahman’s musical Love Story was supposed to be Vijay’s acting debut; however, the project’s delay forced him to accept Sundar C’s Murai Mappillai (1995) from Anbalaya Films. When he signed on to play an actor in Murai Mapillai, he was 18 years old. As a result, he was among the young performers in Tamil cinema to make their debut as heroes. Manivannan, K. Prabakaran, Kalaranjini, Goundamani, and Senthil were among the star-studded cast members of Murai Mapillai. The movie came out in December 1995.

Priyam, Vijay’s second movie, was released in 1996. Then, Vijay agreed to work on the films Ganga Gowri and Kathirunda Kadhal, both of which were produced by Ganga Gowri. Both were made available in 1997. Arun’s debut movie with Suvalakshmi was Kathirunda Kadhal.

In the 1998 movie Thulli Thirintha Kaalam, directed by Balasekaran, Vijay starred as the protagonist. Kavithalayaa Productions, a business owned by K. Balachander, produced it. The movie was a box office hit and was subsequently remade in Telugu with a new cast.

Vijay appeared in two films in 2000: Kannaal Pesavaa and Anbudan. The August 2000 release of Kannal Pesavaa, his second film starring Suvalakshmi, Goundamani, and Senthil, marked their collaboration. The heroines of Anbudan, which was released in November 2000, were Meena and Rambha. When Buddhan, a project for which he underwent bodily transformation, was delayed and eventually abandoned in 2000, his career hit a low point.

He portrayed a civil engineer in Cheran’s 2001 film Pandavar Bhoomi. Together, Vijay and his father Vijayakumar appeared in this film for the first time. The Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film (Second Prize) was given to this movie in 2001.

He co-starred in the 2015 film Yennai Arindhaal with Ajith Kumar. It was his first collaboration with Gautham Vasudev Menon as a filmmaker. Victor, a negative character, was portrayed by Vijay.

Vijay established his own production firm, In Cinemas Entertainment (ICE), on September 1st, 2015. He claimed that the reason he started the business was to find smart and motivated young people and provide them an opportunity.

He made his Telugu debut in the same year as the main antagonist in the movie Bruce Lee – The Fighter (2015). In 2016, he also made his Kannada film debut as the main antagonist in Chakravyuha. His subsequent film, Kuttram 23 (2017), which saw him take on starring parts once more, did well financially. His subsequent film, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018), was directed by Mani Ratnam and included a large cast.

Vijay performed in the action-crime thriller Thadam in 2019. In this movie, he had his first dual part. After Thadaiyara Thaakka, this was the second movie he and Magizh Thirumeni collaborated on. The movie was loosely based on a number of real-life crimes where identical twin suspects were involved. Vijay’s compelling performance as Kavin and Ezhil was Thadam’s greatest asset. Prabhas took the lead role in the action-thriller Saaho, with Vijay filling up the supporting cast. He starred in the Karthick Naren-helmed action-crime film Mafia: Chapter 1 in 2020. Arun Vijay portrayed a drug enforcement officer in the movie who was tasked with finding a drug cartel boss.

He had an appearance in the 2022 movie Oh My Dog on Amazon Prime Video. In the cast were Vijay, his son Arnav Vijay, and his father Vijayakumar. The next movie was Hari’s action drama Yaanai, which was written and directed. Next, the G. N. R. Kumaravelan-directed web series Tamil Rockerz and later Sinam, which is a suspenseful whodunit mystery with Arun Vijay playing a cop, was launched. Once more, Arun Vijay turns in a fantastic performance. With his physique and demeanour, the part of an irate cop is suited for an actor.
