Born on November 19, 1985, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, she hails from a family deeply rooted in music, being the daughter of renowned playback singer Sujatha Mohan and Krishna Mohan.
Her musical journey commenced early, starting her Carnatic music training at the age of 9 under the guidance of Binni Krishnakumar. As a child artist, she lent her voice to the chorus of several notable songs, including ‘Kuchi Kuchi Rakkamma’ from Bombay and ‘Accham Accham Illai’ from Indira, both composed by A. R. Rahman.
Shweta Mohan’s career soared as she collaborated with an array of distinguished music directors in India, spanning legends like Ilayaraja, A. R. Rahman, Vidyasagar, M M Keeravani, and many more. Her versatile vocals graced compositions across various languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films, solidifying her reputation as a leading playback singer in South Indian cinema.
Apart from her illustrious playback singing career, Shweta pursued her education, completing her schooling at Good Shepherd Convent, Chennai, and graduating from Stella Maris College, Chennai.
