Tiger Chen, who trained Chinese martial arts in Chengdu, Sichuan, was born on March 3, 1975. He joined the Sichuan Wushu Team at the age of eighteen. He was the victor of China’s National Youth Martial Arts Competition.
Tiger Chen traveled to the US when he was 19. He was living in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, in a little wooden shack behind a retail center. He instructed pupils at the Tang Soo Karate Academy, which was situated in the plaza, in tai chi and weapons.
