Amar Choudary (born 4 January 1983), often known as Jiiva, is an Indian actor and producer who primarily works in Tamil cinema with some Hindi and Malayalam films thrown in for variety. He is R. B. Choudary’s youngest child and a film producer. In 1991, he made his acting debut as a young youngster in his father’s movies. He made his acting debut in the lead role of Aasai Aasaiyai, his father’s 50th production, in 2003. Jiiva is the first Tamil actor to have won an award at the Cyprus International Film Festival after Sivaji Ganesan, particularly for his work in the 2005 film Raam.
In the years that followed, he appeared in several popular films including E (2006), Katradhu Tamizh (2007), Siva Manasula Sakthi (2009), Ko (2011), Nanban (2012), Mugamoodi (2012), Neethaane En Ponvasantham (2012), Endrendrum Punnagai (2013), Kalakalappu 2 (2018), and Kalathil Santhippom (2021). In the Hindi film 83 (2021), he made his acting debut as cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth.
Jiiva made his acting debut in 2003’s Aasai Aasaiyai, a Ravi Mariya-directed film produced by his father (Super Good Films). Despite the movie’s mediocre box office results, Jiiva was praised by critics.
Super Good Films also produced his second movie, Thithikudhe, which was released in the same year and is a Tamil adaptation of Uday Kiran’s Telugu film Manasantha Nuvve. Although the movie debuted to mixed reviews, the actor won praise for his attractiveness and deep emotions. His third film, Ameer’s criminal thriller Raam (2005), was hailed as a “dream break” for his career as an actor. The explicit script and his portrayal of an oddball 17-year-old received favorable reviews from the public and critics.He earned the Best Actor prize at the Cyprus International Film Festival after the film screened at the Goa International Film Festival.
The next year, in 2006, Jiiva co-starred with Sandhya of Kaadhal fame in Dishyum. Reviews for “A feel-good movie for kids” appeared in several regional publications. “Jeeva continues after this, and she is now a more experienced actor. Galatta commented, “His acting is flawless and natural; his emoting, expressions, emotions portrayed by looks, and body language – all are superb. He made his Malayalam film debut as an NSG Commando the same year in Mohanlal’s Keerthi Chakra (2006), directed by Major Ravi. One of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year, the film had a strong opening. Jiiva also received the Best Couples Award.
At the Asianet Film Awards, Jiiva and Gopika shared the Best Pair prize. “The Tamil actor Jeeva had a more heroic role, which he performed admirably. To believe the physical intensity he brings to the part, one must watch him perform it, said Sify.[5] The film was later dubbed and released as Aran in Tamil. In his final film of 2006, E, he costarred with Nayanthara and played a slum dweller.The movie was a commercial success and earned favorable reviews.
