Biography:

Vijay Antony, whose birth name is Frances Antony Cyril Raja and who professionally goes by the name Vijay Antony, is a versatile artist active in the Tamil film industry. Born on July 24, 1975, he is known for his diverse talents, which encompass music composition, playback singing, acting, film editing, lyric writing, audio engineering, and filmmaking. His musical journey commenced in 2005, marking the beginning of his career. Notably, he achieved the distinction of being the first Indian Music Director to secure the prestigious 2009 Cannes Golden Lion in the Best Music category for his work on the song “Naaka Mukka” featured in an advertising film. This catchy tune gained immense popularity and was even played during the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

Vijay Antony’s artistic journey extended to acting, with his debut role in the crime thriller “Naan.” He went on to star in the standalone sequel, “Salim,” which was an action thriller. Both of these films, “Naan” and “Salim,” earned recognition as sleeper hits. In 2015, he showcased his versatility by taking up a role in the romantic comedy “India Pakistan,” although he did not handle the music composition for this particular project. However, his career reached new heights in 2016 when he starred in the action thriller “Pichaikkaran,” directed by Sasi, the filmmaker behind “Dishyum.” This film turned out to be a significant commercial success, amassing collections nearing 40 Crore. Notably, the Telugu version, titled “Bichagadu,” achieved even greater success than the original.

Continuing his acting career, Vijay Antony starred in “Saithan,” an action thriller directed by debutant Pradeep Krishnamurthy. He further appeared in the 2017 political action thriller “Yaman,” directed by Jeeva Shankar, and “Annadurai,” an action drama that explores the contrasting lives of two brothers influenced by fate. In 2018, he featured in “Kaali,” a period action film helmed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, and “Thimiru Pudichavan,” an action film directed by Ganeshaa.

Vijay Antony’s artistic journey continued in 2019 with his role in “Kolaigaran,” an action thriller directed by Andrew Louis and featuring Arjun Sarja.
