Plot
Two years after the incidents and happenings in Naan, the plot picks up again. Dr Mohammed Salim, often known as Karthik, is a trustworthy physician who practices at a private hospital in Chennai. He frequently makes extra efforts to assist his sick patients who are in need. His coworkers are envious of him and full of rage because of his talent. He discovers one day that Nisha, his suitor, is the one pursuing him. Salim goes straight to Nisha and gives her his private journal so she can get to know him better.
Nisha is so taken aback by Salim’s remark that she falls in love with him. As their relationship develops, Nisha finds out that Salim is so focused on his career that he neglects to look after her and spend time with her, which causes a wedge between them. Salim wants to be with Nisha for the entire day in order to make amends. When they get to the movie theater, some thugs make fun of Nisha, but Salim decides to take her and leave. After taking offense, Nisha begins to disregard Salim’s phone calls.
Salim receives a warning from the hospital’s managing director to cease declining patient fees as it has an impact on the hospital’s revenue. After persuading Nisha a few days later, Salim and Nisha decide to resume their relationship. Salim grants Nisha’s request to accompany her to a party. However, Salim notices a young girl who is injured and bleeding on the road—a victim of gang rape—while traveling. He misses the celebration as he drives her to the hospital. Nisha snaps and ends their relationship.
Salim discovers the following day that the girl he admitted was allowed to leave the hospital. He finds out that the girl was let go by the managing director because she couldn’t afford the fees. Salim receives an invitation to a banquet from his hospital the same evening. Salim finds out that the managing director has reached his limit in terms of compassion and charity at the expense of the hospital. It is Salim’s own farewell party, and he also finds out he’s getting fired.
The managing director also makes fun of him for not making money off of his skill and reputation. Enraged, Salim dashes out of the gathering. He ends himself at the police station after getting into a fight and hitting a policeman while traveling. However, he makes off with the policeman’s handgun and heads directly to a hotel. He discovers four men attempting to rape the hotel singer there.
After giving them a beating, he assists the girl in leaving. Salim takes them into the room as hostages, telling them they must learn their lesson. The police, under the command of Chezhian, are under pressure to act right away since one of the men, Guru, is the son of Home Minister Thavapunniyam.
After learning Salim’s identity, the police raid his house, seizing his wedding invitations and discovering Nisha’s background. After being taken into jail, they bring her to the hotel, where she meets Chezhian and explains that Salim is not a terrorist who wants to kidnap hostages. When Salim requests that Thavapunniyam be present at the hotel, the police’s plan to use Nisha as bait and apprehend Salim fails.
As everything is going on, Salim tosses one of the men out of a window as a police sniper tries to kill him but misses. In order to prevent further dire outcomes, he advises Chezhian to treat him with respect. Later on, it comes to light that the girl Salim had brought to the hospital had been sexually assaulted by the four guys. They killed the victim and her father and dumped their bodies in sewage after releasing the victim from the hospital.
When Salim releases the captives, he realizes Thavapunniyam would not leave him alive. In order to get him to leave, he demands a car and instructs the cops not to pursue him. This time, Thavapunniyam sets up an automobile that has been fitted with a remote detonator and a bomb. Instead of letting Guru go, Salim enters his car and keeps him prisoner.
Subsequently, Thavapunniyam gets a call from Guru informing him that Salim ran away from him on the East Coast Road. After Salim drives off and makes it appear like a car accident, Thavapunniyam commands his men to kill Salim and bring Guru back. The guys drive trucks after the automobile and smash into it, only to discover that Guru was driving inside and Salim had made the decision to get out of the vehicle.
