Ratheesh Vega

Biography:

Composer, vocalist, and musician Ratheesh Vega is involved in Malayalam cinema. Cocktail, a popular movie from 2010, marked his feature film music debut. Ratheesh graduated from Madras University with a degree in music. Ratheesh took a quick course in sound engineering after receiving his degree. However, he continued to harbor dreams of becoming a Carnatic singer. R. Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar of Thrissur taught him the art of music.

Ratheesh led Music Talks on the Malayalam channel Asianet for almost two years. Ratheesh’s career took a turn for the better thanks to this show as well. “I met the renowned music director and programmer Gopi Sunder about this time. He encouraged me to try my hand at composition and introduced me to a number of people in the music industry.

“I had faith in Gopi Sunder,” remarks Ratheesh Vega. He has composed jingles in every language spoken in South India for a wide range of customers and well-known companies. A few of them, such as Joy Alukkas, Josco, MCR, and Kalyan Silks, contributed significantly to the rise in his stock. Ratheesh’s memorable jingles earned him the 2010 Pepper Award.

Ratheesh worked on two albums in between all of this. Additionally, these albums aided in his cinematic career. “The Ayyappa devotional for Vox Music, US, was designed quite differently from the usual ones of the genre. Of these, the tunes ‘Cafe Love’ and ‘Njanum Ente Ayyappa’ had the typical Ratheesh Vegha stamp, a judicious blend of the East and West styles of music.” Along with his spouse Dr. Anu Ratheesh Vega and their two kids, Nadhin and Nirnav, Ratheesh resides in Thrissur.
