Story:

“Vettaikaaran” is a 2009 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by debutant filmmaker B. Babusivan and produced by AVM Productions. The movie stars Vijay and Anushka, with supporting roles played by Srihari, Salim Ghouse, Sayaji Shinde, and Ravi Shankar. Gopinath served as the cinematographer, while V. T. Vijayan edited the film. This marked Vijay’s first collaboration with AVM Productions and was also the sole film directed by B. Babusivan.

The plot revolves around Ravi, an aspiring police officer who admires DCP Devaraj IPS. After joining a college in Chennai, he falls in love with Suseela, an IT professional. Trouble ensues when Ravi confronts Chella, a notorious gangster who harasses his friend Uma. This altercation leads to a series of events that land Ravi in jail on false charges and expel him from college. Suseela seeks the help of DCP Devaraj, who has a personal vendetta against the powerful don Vedanayagam. Ravi’s transformation into “Police Ravi” becomes a turning point in the story, as he seeks to take down Vedanayagam’s criminal activities and bring hope to the public.

“Vettaikaaran” received mixed reviews upon release but proved to be a commercial success. The film’s action-packed narrative, combined with Vijay’s charismatic performance, resonated with audiences. Ravi’s journey from an auto-rickshaw driver to a vigilante determined to bring justice adds depth to the storyline, making it an engaging action film in the Tamil cinema landscape.
