Plot
Arulmozhi is convinced to take on the role of panchayat leader in Kombai by Sukumar, a corrupt politician, when she gets married and assumes the role. But Sukumar gets angry at Arulmozhi’s morality and adherence to the law, so he gathers hitmen to burn her alive.
The gang kills Arulmozhi’s husband, douses the expectant mother in gasoline, and sets her ablaze. She does, however, tumble into the river. After suffering serious burns, she gives birth to a kid who ultimately saves her life. Sukumar is notified of her son’s birth and survival.
Years later, Vijayaraghavan, the son of Arulmozhi, is a loving teacher in Kombai. In addition to sending him to Chennai to finish his IAS, Arulmozhi gives him advice on how to broaden his experience and fulfill her desire. Vijayaraghavan resides in a slum in Chennai.
Vijayaraghavan is kicked from his desk by a criminal named Sullu one day at an MBA institution. After hitting his head, he observes the impoverished children and resolves to change them. After passing his IAS preliminary exam, Vijayaraghavan convinces the parents to enroll their children in tutoring. Vijayaraghavan successfully juggles his IAS coursework and tutoring, emerging as the region’s most popular tutor.
After learning about his mother’s tragic past, Vijayaraghavan’s classmate Vedhavathi comes to adore him and eventually falls in love. Vijayaraghavan challenges Gunasekaran about the fictitious police complaints filed against the slum children when he visits the area.
After Sullu and his group beat him up in retaliation, he inspires his students by telling them that hurdles may arise but that they should disregard them and concentrate on their objective. With inspiration from Vedhavathi, Vijayaraghavan passes the IAS exam and prepares to travel to Delhi for his interview.
But Vijayaraghavan loses it and starts beating Sullu and his group, also beating up Karuna’s men. When Vijayaraghavan is abducted by Gunasekaran’s men the following day, Karuna beats him and dumps him into the canal.
Students of Vijayaraghavan pass their exams with success, and Vijayaraghavan is well-liked and respected in the community. To the chagrin of District Secretary Pedha Perumal, Vijayaraghavan is standing as an independent in the councillor elections. Vijayaraghavan wins the election by convincing the populace to change. Vijayaraghavan’s success annoys Gunasekaran and Sullu. Pedha Perumal becomes enraged with Karuna and Gunasekaran.
Following his victory over Gunasekaran’s repeated threats and his successful persuasion of Pedha Perumal, Vijayaraghavan resolves the outstanding difficulties in his ward. Ultimately, Vijayaraghavan transforms the shantytown by repainting the homes, constructing new sidewalks and roads, and providing employment opportunities for the locals. He also destroys Karuna’s drug stash there. The governor of Tamil Nadu is pleased with the developments in the slum and shares updates about them on his Twitter page.
Sullu tells Gunasekaran that he should have beaten up Vijayaraghavan when he had the chance when Gunasekaran complains to Pedha Perumal about the news. But Sullu and Guna are insulted by Pedha Perumal. When the governor stops by the ward, he makes an effort to persuade Vijayaraghavan to side with the opposition.
Pedha Perumal requests to see Vijayaraghavan as well, but Vijayaraghavan declines. It is Pedha Perumal who makes Vijayaraghavan step down. When Arulmozhi refuses Sukumar, he storms into her home, breaks her hand, signs the resignation letter with emotion, and records a video to prove it.
Vijayraghavan beats Karuna and his henchmen after learning about his mother’s broken hand via his pals. Gunasekaran realizes he has lost the area when the populace begins to back Vijayaraghavan, the former councillor. Pedha Perumal is enraged with Karuna.
In the process of filing to become an MLA, Vijayaraghavan gets to get revenge on Sukumar by arresting him. Vijayaraghavan is persuaded to join the opposition party by Chief Minister Rajamanickam, but he refuses to join unless he is appointed as the state’s chief minister.
Furious, Rajamanickam informs Pedha Perumal that Vijayaraghavan ought not to run for MLA, but he should be allowed to do so in the election; the events that transpire will be shown in the follow-up.
