Plot
A group kidnaps wealthy businessmen in Madurai and wants ₹2 crore (US$250,000) to release them, threatening to kill them. The deceased are buried under a bridge. The primary offenders behind the kidnaps are Bhavani and Lal. After solving the case and meeting the kidnappers, SI Albert is assassinated in front of everyone by Bhavani.
The new ACP, Jayaseelan, is assigned by the special branch to eliminate Bhavani and his gang during police confrontations. He is deputed to Madurai. Along with his brother Selvam, he shares a home with his mother and father. Jayaseelan’s close friend and chief constable is Murugesan.
Jayaseelan meets Sowmya in the interim and develops feelings for her. Afterwards, Jayaseelan meets two of Bhavani’s guys while feigning to meet with him and his group to conclude his commission so he won’t ever get involved in their illicit activities. Knowing that he is being watched and could become the next target, Bhavani is terrified.
Jayaseelan finds Bhavani and ends his life. Jayaseelan is perplexed when, shortly before passing away, Bhavani challenges him, saying that all kidnapping events will continue after his death.
It is eventually discovered that Selvam, who is close to Lal, is actually the mastermind behind all of the kidnapping cases. While Bhavani is just interested in carrying out the plot, both are involved in the planning of the kidnappings and the businessmen’s murders.
Past: The locals hold Ramasamy, the grandfather of Jayaseelan and Selvam, in high regard as a renowned independence fighter. He is renowned for his commitment and sincerity and has served as a minister for four times. Nevertheless, after his father’s passing, Kumarasamy, the father of Jayaseelan and Selvam, chose to avoid all politics and has no interest in it.
The cousin of Kumarasamy, Singarasu, is a local politician who chooses to rely on Ramasamy’s political backing in order to win. Selvam agrees to support Singarasu’s party after being persuaded to do so. After winning the election, Singarasu served as a minister for five years as an MLA.
A few party men encourage Selvam to run for the same MLA seat in the upcoming election, but Singarasu is the mastermind who wants to take Selvam’s place in order to demonstrate his dominance.
Selvam puts his trust in a few friends, but he eventually realizes Singarasu’s scheme and loses the election because Singarasu paid people to cast ballots in his favor. Selvam becomes enraged by this and resolves to make money to utilize in the election.
In order to gain Singarasu’s trust and get all the information on his illicit activities, he enlists the help of his lawyer friend Pankaj Lal. They also significantly participate in the kidnapping of wealthy city businesspeople and demand money.
Present: Selvam is aware that the kidnapping case is being handled by Jayaseelan. and watches his every action carefully. Selvam and his men capture Lakshmi Narayanan, Sowmya’s father, and demand money.
While gathering the money, Narayanan gives it to Selvam, who materializes in front of him wearing a mask. The family members of Sowmya and Jayaseelan are scheduled to meet the following day to talk about Jayaseelan’s proposed marriage.
Narayanan is skeptical that Selvam could have abducted him at that point based on his behavior. Knowing that Narayanan is suspicious, Selvam makes the decision to murder him before he can get in touch with Jayaseelan. Narayanan asks Jayaseelan to come see him right away, but Selvam murders him before that can happen.
As part of his plan to track down the perpetrator, Jayaseelan plans to bug all of Madurai’s top businessmen’s cell phones in order to find out if the kidnapper has called any of them and demanded money. To identify the individuals responsible for phone tapping, a specialized team is formed. When a businessman receives a call demanding money, Jayaseelan chooses to covertly follow the caller.
Jayaseelan steps in just as the businessman is ready to give the money to Selvam and Lal. Jayaseelan pursues Selvam and Lal when they flee. After Jayaseelan kills and arrests Lal, Selvam shoots his upper arm, pretends that someone has shot him, and flees the scene. Selvam is admitted to the hospital by Jayaseelan.
Meanwhile, a hitman working for Selvam murders Lal inside the commissioner’s office. Jayaseelan and Selvam’s father learn that Selvam is the mastermind behind all of the kidnapping occurrences after overhearing a discussion between Selvam and one of his goons on his cell phone. Selvam chooses to murder his dad.
Afterwards, Jayaseelan uncovers the truth by carrying out a covert inquiry against Selvam. Based on the quantity of gunshots heard, he is given proof that Selvam shot himself, and he also realizes that Selvam manufactured a scene in which the shooter fled the scene. When Jayaseelan visits Selvam’s hiding place, he discovers their father strapped on a chair in a hidden chamber behind. Jayaseelan returns his father home after saving him.
When Selvam realizes that his family is aware of all of his illicit activity, he is horrified. He asks them to hold off on acting because, following the election, he will take over as the next minister. Selvam suddenly charges at Jayaseelan and his dad, killing them both. Jayaseelan strikes Selvam in retaliation.
Finally, their father requests Jayaseelan to kill Selvam, saying that it will be a major humiliation for their family, especially Ramasamy’s reputation in the society if the truth comes out to the public. Jayaseelan consents and murders Selvam, putting his body beneath the bridge—where typically wealthy businessmen’s bodies are dumped—in order to create the impression that Selvam is also murdered by the kidnappers in exchange for ransom.
