Vela Ramamoorthy

Biography:

Actor and writer Vela Ramamoorthy is from India and has made appearances in Tamil-language movies. Prior to entering the film business, he spent several years working as a district coordinator for the government’s special program called Arivoli Iyakkam, which aimed to educate and inform the Tamil population.

He founded Karvaikattu Kalaikkuzu, a drama and cultural company, and penned several stage play scripts. Ramamoorthy graduated from PUC. Before being assigned to the post office, he enlisted in the Indian Army and served for five years. Many people would come meet him in his office because he is a writer.

Known for his critically praised Tamil novels, such as Kuruthi Aattam, Pattathu Yaanai, and Kuttra Parambarai, Ramamoorthy is regarded as one of the most prominent tale writers of his day. He was also a party to the legal battle over the rights to adapt Kuttra Parambarai into a movie. His support had been given to Bala’s project before Bharathiraja’s.  In addition, he wrote the collection of short stories Vela Ramamoorthy Kathaikal.
