Story:

Irumbu Thirai was released in 2018 and saw the debut of P. S. Mithran as director of the Tamil-language techno-thriller action movie. Vishal, Arjun, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are among the film’s cast members, and Yuvan Shankar Raja wrote the soundtrack.

Vishal Film Factory was the film’s producer, and work on the project started in October 2016. The story revolves around an army officer who, after his bank account is robbed, begins to pursue a group of hackers.

On May 11, 2018, the movie was released worldwide. Both reviewers and viewers gave the film positive reviews, highlighting the technical aspects, writing, directing, action sequences, and performances by Vishal and Arjun among the cast.

After a successful 100 days at the box office, the movie finished seventh in terms of earnings among Tamil films in 2018. Chakra, a stand-alone sequel, was published in 2021.

Plot: Under the supervision of chief psychiatrist Rathi Devi, Indian Army Major Kathiravan is addressing his anger management problems in order to get back to work. She advises him to return to his village to spend time with his father Rangaswamy and sister after they quickly fall in love.

Kathiravan reluctantly agrees, despite his hatred of his father for always borrowing money. Kathiravan discovers that the family of his sister’s fiancé, Kesavan, requires them to pay for the wedding.

He acknowledges that leaving his family behind was a mistake, and he swears to grant his sister’s wish. When Kathiravan comes back to Chennai to reapply for a loan, he is turned down everywhere. He takes his father to Chennai with him on the advice of his uncle, where they attempt to obtain a loan in Rangaswamy’s name but are consistently turned down everywhere because of their financial stability.

A person posing as a loan agent approaches them and offers to help them obtain a loan in exchange for a commission by having them fabricate documents. After first declining the man’s offer, Kathiravan eventually gives in and gives him all of the original paperwork.

The individual assists them in obtaining a loan of ₹6 lakh, or $7,500 USD. Overjoyed, Kathiravan begins preparing for marriage. Later, Rangaswamy tells Kathiravan that he was unable to withdraw money because of an inadequate balance, and Kathiravan is shocked to learn that money is missing.

Kathiravan contacts the bank but gets no response. He scolds Rangaswamy out of frustration. Reaching for the end, Rangaswamy tries to end his life. Kathiravan discovers in the hospital that Rangaswamy took on debts in order to prolong the life of Kathiravan’s ailing mother. After learning this, he feels regret and makes amends with Rangaswamy.

He makes the decision to find the culprit behind the theft on Rathi’s recommendation and with the assistance of his military friends. In order to obtain information, Kathiravan is able to locate and pursue a loan agent who resembles his own.

Later, he receives a call from an unknown number, demanding that Kathiravan free him since he is aware of every detail about him and even threatening to post the private files from his sister’s phone online.

As a result of Kathiravan’s shock, the agent is struck by a van and dies. Using the Y2k Problem, it is eventually discovered that the mysterious individual is Sathyamoorthy, also known as White Devil, the leader of the Dark Net.

He uses an educational trust as a cover for his network of cybercrime. When Kathiravan finds Sathyamoorthy and confronts him, the latter admits that he knows the former is pursuing him and informs him that he assaulted his sister.

Moreover, Sathyamoorthy informs Kathiravan that he transferred ₹10 lakh (US$13,000) to his account from an account that was flagged and for which he faces a court martial. But with Rathi’s assistance, Kathiravan tracks down Sathyamoorthy’s goons and finds their base, where he seizes a laptop that they were using to access people’s accounts.

By taking the money from every Chennai City Police officer, he frames Satyamoorthy. He meets Sathyamoorthy at the server farm, and they fight each other hand to hand. Because of his god complex, Sathyamoorthy beats Kathiravan and burns the money.

Kathiravan reveals, however, that the Telecom Minister is the rightful owner of the burnt money, having been blackmailed into providing information about every Indian citizen’s Aadhaar card. After learning about him from Kathiravan, all of the individuals who were duped by Sathyamoorthy—including the police officers—arrive at the docks.

After defeating Sathyamoorthy through fighting back, Kathiravan reveals that he had hacked into Satyamoorthy’s account and taken all of the money, telling him to deal with the consequences.

As soon as he opens the door, Satyamoorthy is attacked by a vengeful mob. Kathiravan then returns their money to each of their accounts. Police arrest Sathyamoorthy, but he changes his username to Dark Angel.
