Robo Shankar, a multifaceted talent in the Indian entertainment industry, has made a significant impact as an actor, dubbing artist, and comedian. Born as Shankar, he earned the nickname “Robo” due to his robotic dance moves, showcasing his unique flair even in his early years. Hailing from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Robo Shankar’s journey into the entertainment world began as a mimicry artist.

His ability to mimic voices caught the attention of the industry, leading him to venture into dubbing. With his versatile vocal skills, he became a sought-after dubbing artist, lending his voice to various characters in Tamil cinema. Robo Shankar’s foray into acting was marked by his distinctive style of humor and impeccable timing. He gained popularity for his performances in various comedy roles, endearing himself to audiences with his wit and comic timing.

His natural ability to make people laugh earned him a place among the most beloved comedians in the Tamil film industry. Known for his energetic and spontaneous performances, Robo Shankar became a regular face in Tamil films. Directors and producers sought his comedic prowess to add a touch of humor to their movies. His collaborations with leading actors and directors further solidified his position as a pivotal figure in the industry’s comedy scene.

Beyond the silver screen, Robo Shankar’s comedic brilliance extended to the television industry. He became a household name through his appearances on popular comedy shows, where his humor resonated with audiences of all ages. His engaging presence and quick-witted humor made him a favorite among viewers. In addition to his acting and dubbing career, Robo Shankar is recognized for his philanthropic efforts.

He actively engages in charitable activities, contributing to various social causes and earning admiration for his commitment to making a positive impact on society. His dedication to his craft, be it acting, dubbing, or comedy, has earned him a special place in the hearts of audiences.

As he continues to evolve and diversify his contributions to the world of entertainment, Robo Shankar remains a dynamic force in the vibrant landscape of Tamil cinema and comedy.  Robo Shankar, an accomplished Indian stand-up comedian, has made a mark in the Tamil film industry through character roles. His journey to recognition began with his breakthrough performance in stand-up comedy on STAR Vijay’s Kalakkapovathu Yaaru.

Now, he is a regular cast member on various shows on Star Vijay and has also taken on the role of presenting television programs for the channel. The moniker “Robo Shankar” was bestowed upon him due to his impressive robot dance displays in village shows. Initially a mimicry artist, his entry into the world of acting came when Gokul offered him a role in Rowthiram (2011).

Unfortunately, his scenes were edited out from the film. However, Gokul provided him with another opportunity in Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara (2013), which served as a breakthrough moment in his acting career. After undertaking smaller roles in films like Yaaruda Mahesh and Kappal, Balaji Mohan recognized Robo Shankar’s potential and cast him in Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (2014).

Despite being described by critics as delivering a “screaming” performance, this marked a significant step forward for him. Venturing into negative character portrayals, he featured in Touring Talkies (2015). His versatility became evident in Maari (2015), where critics praised him, stating that he “deserves a special mention” and “steals the show with his unique one-liners and body language”.

Robo Shankar’s journey in the film industry is characterized by resilience and a gradual ascent to prominence.
