Early Life:

Actor Shakti Prasad was Sarja’s father, and his mother Lakshmi was an art instructor. Kishore Sarja, one of his older brothers, was a Kannada film director. Arjun had always intended to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer, but fate had other plans for him.

Arjun loves Hanuman with all of his heart. He is constructing a Hanuman temple outside of Chennai. Exclusively for the temple, a 35-foot-tall statue of Lord Anjaneya and a 140-ton-plus figure of Hanuman in a sitting position were sculpted. The Hanuman statue is the first of its sort in India to be seated. The figure is made of one stone and is 35 feet high by 12 feet broad by 7 feet thick.

His nephews Dhruva Sarja and Chiranjeevi Sarja have appeared in Kannada films as actors. Bharat Sarja, another nephew of Arjun, made his acting debut in 2014. Sarja started learning karate at the age of 16, and she currently holds a black belt. Sarja was motivated by Bruce Lee’s 1973 movie Enter the Dragon.

In 1988, he wed Niveditha Arjun, a former actress who went by the stage name Asha Rani and made her acting debut in the Kannada film Ratha Sapthami in 1986. Rajesh, a Kannada actor, is his father-in-law. Aishwarya and Anjana are the two daughters of Sarja.In 2013, Aishwarya Arjun made her acting debut.

Film Career:

Arjun Sarja is an Indian actor, producer, and director who mostly works in the Tamil film industry. He also got his start in the Telugu and Kannada film industries. He made his acting debut in the 1981 movie Simhada Mari Sainya as a young child. Sarja had appeared in almost 160 motion pictures. He has produced and distributed a lot of films in addition to his 12 filmmaking credits. He first appeared in Male Bantu Male as an independent actor after playing tiny roles in various Kannada films. Sarja made his Tamil cinema debut in 1984’s Nandri, directed by Rama Narayanan. He went on to play main and supporting roles in numerous Telugu and Kannada films during the ensuing years, including Shivanaga (1992), Prathap (1990), and Premagni (1989).

In 1992, Sarja made his feature film directing debut with Sevagan. He made his breakthrough as a modern actor in 1993’s S. Shankar’s Gentleman, which debuted to favourable reviews and earned Sarja the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor. After that, he appeared in box office hits like Jai Hind (1994), Karnaa (1995), and the crime drama Kurudhipunal (1995). He featured in Mudhalvan (1999), a political thriller, in 1999. Sarja received praise from critics for playing an ambitious television reporter who temporarily assumed the position of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The movie garnered regional prizes and played in theatres for more than 100 days.

He appeared in Vasanth’s movie Rhythm in 2000. He starred in several action films, including Arasatchi (2004) and Parasuram (2003), both of which he also directed and featured in key roles. The films Giri (2004) and Marudhamalai (2007) performed well at the box office, while Durai (2008), Madrasi (2006), and Vathiyar (2006) had middling box office performances. In the 2004 devotional movie Sri Anjaneyam, directed by Krishna Vamsi, he played the part of the Hindu deity Hanuman.

Sarja has been acting in negative roles and attempting to shed his “action king” persona since 2010. He co-starred with Ajith Kumar in the financially successful criminal thriller Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu, in 2011. He had an appearance in the Kannada film Prasad the next year, for which he was nominated for the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor. The next year, he appeared as a smuggler in Mani Ratnam’s box office flop Kadal (2013), which starred him. In a directorial effort, Jai Hind 2 was a financial failure in Tamil and Telugu but a box office success in Kannada.

He then appeared in the Telugu film Naa Peru Surya, Naa Illu India alongside Allu Arjun. This was followed by the Tamil action picture Irumbu Thirai (2018), which also starred Vishal and went on to become a box-office smash.
