R. S. Shivaji, who lived from October 26, 1956, to September 2, 2023, was well-known actor for his roles in Tamil movies. He had frequently worked as an assistant director, sound designer, and line producer on movies starring Kamal Haasan and Raaj Kamal Films International.
The actor and producer M. R. Santhanam, whose credits include Ellis R. Dungan’s 1945 film Meera, was the father of R. S. Shivaji. Santhana Bharathi, his brother, is a well-known actor and director who has experience in Tamil cinema (Kollywood).
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, R. S. Shivaji was a frequent cast member of Kamal Haasan’s comedic films. The dialogue from Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989), directed at Janagaraj, titled Saar! Neenga Engeyo Poiteenga, sir, was frequently mocked in subsequent Tamil films.
He was Nayanthara’s father in Kolamavu Kokila and Vivek’s helper in Dharala Prabhu, two films in which he played significant roles.
At the age of 66, Shivaji passed away in Chennai on September 2, 2023, from a heart attack while he was asleep.
