Released in 2022, “Sebastian P.C. 524” is a Telugu-language action thriller by Balaji Sayyapureddy. Starring Kiran Abbavaram and Nuveksha, the film follows a timid police constable with night blindness who stumbles upon a murder mystery. Despite Ghibran’s captivating soundtrack and Viplav Nyshadam’s sharp editing, the film met with mixed reception upon its March 4th release.
Sebastian, a kind-hearted young man played by Kiran Abbavaram, cherishes his late mother (Rohini) as his guiding star. On her deathbed, she implored him to keep his night-blindness a secret to secure his police job.
His new posting in Madanapalle, Chittoor district, takes a dramatic turn when a young housewife, Neelima (Komalee Prasad), is found murdered. Sebastian finds himself embroiled in a web of suspects, each with their own dark motive.
Doctor Chakravathy (Surya), Neelima’s father-in-law, harbors a hidden desire for her while treating Sebastian for his night-blindness. Helia (Nuveksha), torn between her love for an NRI and societal pressures, ends up marrying Neelima out of obligation, though fate later weaves her path towards an engagement with Sebastian. Teja (Raja Vikram), Neelima’s former flame whose love was thwarted by caste differences, remains Sebastian’s close friend, aware of his disability like the others.
As Sebastian navigates the murky waters of this investigation, he must not only contend with the dangers surrounding him but also the burden of his secret, all while seeking justice for Neelima. Sebastian’s night duty at the murder scene took a tragic turn. Trusted to safeguard evidence, he fell prey to the cunning suspects who manipulated his situation to their advantage. The evidence vanished, leading to his suspension. Though he later managed to expose the culprits through his own skills and resourcefulness, fear of his night-blindness being revealed and jeopardizing his future, led him to make a heart-wrenching choice – he released them, leaving the case unsolved.
The burden of that decision haunted Sebastian. The injustice gnawed at him, knowing the true perpetrator walked free. But two years later, a seemingly insignificant clue, a rare poison used to abort pregnancies, reignited the embers of hope. Through sheer determination and relentless pursuit, Sebastian unearthed the shocking truth. The mastermind behind the heinous crime was none other than Neelima’s lover, his own confidante, Teja.
Driven by a twisted desire, Teja had forced Neelima to abandon her husband and marry him. When she became pregnant with Rahul’s child, Teja resorted to the fatal poison, intending only to terminate the pregnancy. However, the dose proved lethal, claiming Neelima’s life as well. The revelation hit Sebastian like a ton of bricks.
Teja, desperate to escape justice, exposed Sebastian’s night-blindness before the authorities. But to his surprise, Sebastian received unwavering support. Recognizing his courage and dedication, they even offered him a promotion. Yet, the scars of his past mistakes and the desire for a simpler life, far from the shadows of the police force, proved stronger. He declined the promotion, resigned from his job, and chose to follow his conscience.
Life took a different turn. Sebastian reconnected with Heli, whose path had taken a positive turn. Together, they embarked on a new journey, unbound by the constraints of his past. Though the memories of the case lingered, they served as a stark reminder of the choices we make and the courage it takes to rise above fear and embrace a life guided by truth and justice.
