Story:

Vetrimaaran’s story serves as the basis for R. S. Durai Senthilkumar’s 2024 action thriller film Garudan, which is directed and written in Tamil. Produced in collaboration with K. Kumar’s Lark Studios and Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root Film Company. M. Sasikumar, Unni Mukundan, and Soori play the main characters in the movie.

Roshini Haripriyan, Sshivada, Revathi Sharma, Samuthirakani, Vadivukkarasi, R. V. Udayakumar, and Mime Gopi have supporting parts. It follows two childhood friends, Aadhi and Karuna, and their valued confidante Sokkan, whose devotion is altered by a conflict between survival and betrayal.

After Viduthalai Part 1, this is Soori’s second film in which he plays the lead role. The film was first revealed without a title in September 2023. The main photography started that same month and ended in January 2024. Later on in the month, the title was disclosed. Pradeep E. Ragav edited the movie, Arthur A. Wilson handled the cinematography, and Yuvan Shankar Raja provided the soundtrack.

Critics gave Garudan a strong review upon its global premiere in theaters on May 31, 2024, highlighting the performances of the main characters (particularly Soori, Sasikumar, and Unni Mukundan), Yuvan’s background score, and Senthilkumar’s writing and direction.
