TheatreJon Favreau and Dave Filoni are the directors and co-writers of the upcoming American film The Mandalorian and Grogu, also titled Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. It is a continuation of the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian (2019–2023) and a part of the Star Wars brand. It was produced by Lucasfilm and will be released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Pedro Pascal plays Din Djarin, also known as The Mandalorian, in the movie. Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne also feature.
By February 2023, Favreau and Filoni had written a fourth season of The Mandalorian, but the 2023 labor issues in Hollywood caused a delay in the season’s production. Lucasfilm reassessed its franchise plans during this period and chose to put a Mandalorian movie ahead of the fourth season. In January 2024, the Mandalorian and Grogu were revealed. By August 2024, filming had started in California and was finished by December of the same year. On May 22, 2026, The Mandalorian and Grogu is expected to be released in the US.
After the collapse of the Galactic Empire, while the galaxy is still in danger from surviving Imperial warlords, the New Republic recruits Din Djarin and his disciple Grogu.
