English actor Jonathan Coyne was born on February 3, 1958 and is best known for his role as Warden Edwin James in Fox’s brief Alcatraz (2012) series. In addition, he reprised his role as George de Mohrenschildt in 11.22.63 and as Dr. Lydgate in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Once Upon a Time.
Early roles for Coyne were in school productions. He portrayed Phaeton in Ovid’s Chariot of the Sun and The Judge in Howard Barker’s Hang of the Gaol. He made the decision to pursue an acting profession after his performances were praised by the national press. He was accepted to the London-based Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he graduated with the Hannam Clarke Award.
