The most well-known works by American filmmaker Jeffrey McDonald “J. C.” Chandor born November 24, 1973 include the critically acclaimed films Margin Call (2011), All Is Lost (2013), and A Most Violent Year (2014). Among his honors are two Best Picture National Board of Review wins, the Golden Bear, and Academy Award nominations.
Chandor was raised in Bernards Township, New Jersey’s Basking Ridge neighborhood. He is the son of investment banker Jeff Chandor and Mary (McDonald). He graduated from Bernards Township’s Ridge High School in 1992, and he earned his bachelor’s degree from The College of Wooster in 1996. Chandor directed advertisements for 15 years before to Margin Call.
