Story:

“Pokkiri” is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by Prabhu Deva, serving as the Tamil remake of the 2006 Telugu movie “Pokiri,” originally starring Mahesh Babu. The film features Vijay and Asin in leading roles, with Prakash Raj, Nassar, Mukesh Tiwari, Vadivelu, Sriman, and Napoleon playing supporting characters. The story revolves around the city of Chennai, plagued by the activities of land mafia gangs. Mohammed Maideen Khan IPS, the new Police Commissioner, embarks on a mission to combat crime. Tamizh, a thug, becomes entangled in this world and eventually falls in love with Shruthi, an aerobics teacher. The film is known for its action sequences, music, and Vijay’s performance.

As the narrative unfolds, Tamizh, initially a thug for hire, is drawn into the rival gangs led by Ali Bhai and Narasimhan. His love for Shruthi drives him to confront the criminal underworld, leading to a series of intense confrontations and emotional revelations. The movie’s climax sees Tamizh, who is later revealed to be an undercover police officer named Satyamoorthy, taking down Ali Bhai and his gang to rescue the Commissioner’s daughter and avenge the death of his friend Saravanan.

“Pokkiri” was a commercial success, receiving positive reviews for Vijay’s performance, action sequences, and music. It achieved over 200 days of successful theatrical run in Tamil Nadu. The film showcases themes of crime, corruption, and justice through an engaging storyline and memorable characters.
