Ajay Rathnam is an Indian actor recognized for his roles in Tamil films and television series, particularly in supporting and negative characters. His extensive career boasts appearances in over 300 movies, and he is known for his imposing height of 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm), making him one of the tallest actors in the Kollywood industry.
Rathnam’s journey in acting began with his debut in the horror film “Naalai Manithan” (1989), where he portrayed John, a deranged killer. He also featured in an episode of the TV serial “Marmadesam” (Vidathu Karuppu). Notably, he took on the role of the leader of the fictional LTF rebels in the Hindi film “Madras Cafe” (2013), a character closely resembling the late LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.
Beyond his acting career, Rathnam has a multifaceted persona. He serves as a motivational trainer and has impacted numerous young lives through his academy named “STONE TO DIAMOND.” Rathnam’s motivational seminars have inspired students in various colleges. In 2018, he expanded his horizons by establishing a badminton academy called “V Square” in Chennai. Following this, in 2019, he inaugurated the “V Square” Sports Arena in Mogappair.
On a personal note, Rathnam’s son, Dheeraj Vishnu Rathnam, also ventured into acting. Dheeraj made his acting debut in Arivazhagan’s film “Aarathu Sinam” (2016), following in his father’s footsteps.
