TheatreMaa Aavida Ottu Meeda Mee Aavida E. V. V. Satyanarayana is the writer, director, and producer of the 2001 Indian Telugu-language drama film Chala Manchidi, which translates to “I swear on my wife, your wife is very good.” Srikanth, Raasi, Vadde Naveen, and Laya are the film’s main stars.
In the movie, Subadra (Raasi) and Praveen (Naveen), two separated lovers, suddenly cross paths after their respective weddings. Subadra plans to leave her spouse Jagdeesh (Srikanth) and elope, remarrying Praveen. The movie came out on February 2, 2001.
Plot
Subadra and Praveen choose to elope since they are in love despite their parents’ disapproval. They arrange to meet at the bus station one evening, but Subadra is apprehended by her parents, who take her away forcibly, while Praveen fails to show up for an undisclosed reason.
Subadra marries Jagdeesh later in life, and the two of them reside in Hyderabad’s Prem Nagar neighborhood. As a manager at a car dealership, Jagdeesh constantly tries to win Subadra over, but she doesn’t seem to care.
When Praveen starts working for the same company as Jagdeesh, they rapidly become good friends. Along with his spouse Kanaka Durga, Praveen moves into the same neighbourhood, and the two of them live next door to each other.
Praveen quickly discovers that Jagdeesh’s wife is Subadra, her previous lover. In response to Subadra’s ire at him for not seeing her that evening, Praveen says he was struck by his father and rendered unconscious for ten days. To get married, Subadra—who is still in love with Praveen—offers to elope. Praveen attempts in vain to convince Subadra that Jagdeesh is a good man, but Subadra refuses to listen.
One day, after telling their husbands that they were traveling for various reasons, the two of them depart for Goa. As they settle inside the motel, Subadra begins to feel horrible about what she did. There, they run across Praveen’s now-coupled ex-classmates, GV and Avanti. Their stories are similar, except after Avanti elopes with GV, her husband commits suicide.
Subadra eventually begins to like her husband Jagdeesh and has doubts about Praveen’s selfish reasons for going on an elopement with her. A few days later, Subadra leaves Praveen a note in Hyderabad informing him that she has changed her mind about getting married again and would rather stay with Jagdeesh.
Kanaka Durga discovers that Praveen and her neighbor’s wife have eloped in the interim. After Praveen returns from Goa, she treats him with contempt. Subadra turns to suicide because she is unable to stand the disparaging comments made about her by the public.
Conversely, Kanaka Durga makes the decision to have an abortion since she does not want to become pregnant with Praveen’s nasty child. They are both admitted to the Mediciti Hospital, where Praveen and Jagdeesh also arrive and GV and Avanti work as doctors.
There, GV and Avanti disclose that they arranged for Subadra to elope with Praveen in order to make her understand the value of a committed marriage to a devoted husband. Subadra and Kanaka Durga come to terms with their errors and get back together with their spouses.
