Biography:

Kavita Seth, born on September 14, 1970, is a versatile Indian singer celebrated for her melodious contributions to Hindi cinema, particularly renowned for her playback singing, Ghazals, and Sufi music. Hailing from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, she grew up in a middle-class family with her father working as a bank officer.

Kavita Seth’s musical journey reflects a deep-rooted connection to Sufi-style singing, though her repertoire extends to encompass geet, ghazal, and folk songs. Her talent took her across the globe, performing at various prestigious venues in London, Birmingham, Scotland, Berlin, Oslo, Stockholm, and several cities in India. It was at Muzaffar Ali’s International Sufi Festival concert in Delhi where director Satish Kaushik discovered her captivating voice and offered her the song “Zindagi ko Maula” in the film Vaada (2005), marking her debut as a playback singer.

In 2020, Kavita Seth showcased her multifaceted talent by composing the soundtrack for the BBC TV series A Suitable Boy. Additionally, she lent her vocals to the songs performed by Tabu’s character in the show, showcasing her diverse musical capabilities.

Throughout her career, Kavita Seth’s captivating voice, coupled with her versatility and dedication to Sufi and Ghazal genres, has earned her accolades, including two Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer, making her a significant figure in the Indian music industry.
