Biography:

Actor and politician Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju lived in India from 20 January 1940 to 11 September 2022. He was well-known for his Telugu film contributions and was also popularly referred to as “Rebel Star” due to his rebellious acting approach. He also took home the first-ever Nandi Award for Best Actor. In his career, Krishnam Raju appeared in more than 183 full-length films. With the 1966 picture Chilaka Gorinka, which K. Pratyagatma both produced and directed, he made his screen debut. Five Filmfare Awards South and three state Nandi Awards were won by Krishnam Raju. Additionally, Krishnam Raju was an active politician.

He started getting involved in politics in the late 1990s. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and won seats in the Kakinada and Narasapuram constituencies for the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha. From 1999 until 2004, he was a Minister of State for the Ministry of External Affairs under the third Vajpayee Ministry. He joined the Chiranjeevi-founded Praja Rajyam Party in March 2009. He ran for the Rajahmundry constituency MP seat in the 2009 general elections but was unsuccessful.

Uppalapati Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Raju gave birth to Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju on January 20, 1940, in Mogalthur, West Godavari district. At the Government Boys School in Mogalthur and afterwards at Taylor’s High School in Narasapuram, Andhra Pradesh, he finished his early education. From Hyderabad, Telangana’s Badruka College, he received a B. Com degree. Initially, Sitadevi, who passed away, was married to Krishnam Raju.He had three children with Syamaladevi, whom he married in 1996.

Actor Prabhas’ father, Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju, was his younger brother. It is his nephew Prabhas. His other nephew, Siddharth Rajkumar, made his acting debut in the 2011 film Keratam.For the Andhra Ratna, Krishnam Raju worked as a journalist. At the state level, he received the second-best photographer prize. He had a collection of cameras and loved them. He was Gopi Krishna Movies’ creator. He later developed a number of ailments, including diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, chronic lung disease, chronic bronchitis, and heart rhythm disorders.

Yuddham, Sardar, Babulugaadi Debba, Kondaveeti Nagulu, and S. P. Bhayankar were among the films Krishnam Raju appeared in in 1984. Later, he appeared in the Tollywood blockbuster Bobbili Brahmanna, for which he won the Telugu Filmfare Best Actor Award and the Nandi Award for Best Actor. With Dilip Kumar and Jeetendra, he also remade the movie in Hindi as Dharm Adhikari in 1986. His later acting credits include roles in films like Raraju, Bharatamlo Shankaravam, Rowdy, Bandee, Tirugubatu, Aggi Raju, Bullet, Ukku Manishi, Ravana Brahma, Neti Yugadharmam, and Ugra Narasimham. He played Tandra Paparayudu in Tandra Paparayudu in 1986, which earned him the Filmfare Best Actor Award for that year. The 11th International Film Festival of India hosted the movie’s world premiere.

Vidhata, Bava Bavamaridi, Jailor Gaari Abbayi, Andaroo Andare, and Gangmaster were among the 1991 films in which Krishnam Raju appeared. He appeared in Palnati Pourusham in 1994, which was a huge box office success. Later, he appeared in films like Maa Nannaku Pelli, Rikshaw Rudraiah, Simha Garjana, Tata Manavadu, and Nayudugaari Kutumbam, which received the Nandi Award for Best Home-viewing Feature Film. He made his Sandalwood debut in 1997 and appeared in the Kannada flicks Simhada Mari and Hai Bangalore. Later on, he appeared in Sultan, Vamsoddharakudu, and Neeku Nenu Naaku Nuvvu, which was recognised with a Nandi Award and an Akkineni Award for best home watching feature film.

Later, he collaborated for the first time with Prabhas in the Don film series’ Raam and Billa. Later, he appeared in Rebel and Thakita Thakita. The release of Billa ushers in a new era for his production company, Gopi Krishna Movies. In an interview, Krishnam Raju stated that he will continue to release films under the label. Later, he appeared as Ganapati Devudu, Rudrama Devi’s father, in Chandee, Yevade Subramanyam, and Rudhramadevi, the first historical film in India to be produced in 3D. In his most recent movie, Radhe Shyam (2022), Raju played the Paramahamsa.
