Nelson Dilipkumar is the writer and director of the upcoming Tamil-language action comedy Jailer 2. Under Sun Pictures, Kalanithi Maran is the producer. A sequel to Jailer (2023), the film stars Rajinikanth reprising his role as the title character, alongside S. J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Anna Rajan, Jatin Sarna, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan.
Nelson stated that he would like to make sequels to his flicks before the first one was released in 2023. Sun Pictures officially confirmed the sequel to Jailer in January 2025. Principal photography begun during March 2025 in Chennai and wrapped in April 2026. The film will include music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R. Nirmal. The global release date of Jailer 2 is set for October 15, 2026.
