Story:

IB71, a Hindi-language spy thriller released in 2023, revolves around the 1971 Indian Airlines hijacking. The film, penned and directed by Sankalp Reddy, features Vidyut Jammwal, Vishal Jethwa, and Faizan Khan in prominent roles. Notably, it marks Jammwal’s debut as a producer. The movie, which also stars Anupam Kher, Ashwath Bhatt, Danny Sura, and Suvrat Joshi, received acclaim upon its release on May 12, 2023.

Plot

In 1971, the Indian Intelligence Bureau receives crucial intel about imminent attacks on India by Pakistan and China within 10 days. Facing time and resource constraints, IB agent Dev Jammwal proposes to his superior N.S. Avasti that the most viable strategy to thwart this threat is to impose an airspace blockade. This involves restricting Indian airspace access to Pakistan and fabricating a violation of the Tashkent Agreement. The plan entails orchestrating the hijacking of an Indian plane by Kashmiri separatists, ensuring it lands in Pakistani territory. Initially dismissed as implausible by the government, they eventually recognize its potential and agree to execute the well-structured operation. However, complications arise when the entire team of passengers, comprised of intelligence officers, find themselves in a Lahore hotel. Unforeseen circumstances unfold, deviating from the original plan.
