Suvrat Joshi, born on April 22, 1985, is a renowned Indian actor in the realm of drama and television. He gained widespread recognition for his roles in the Marathi sitcoms Dil Dosti Duniyadari and its sequel, Dil Dosti Dobara.
Born in Pune to Laxman Joshi, Suvrat is the nephew of Jayant Godbole. Influenced by his father and uncle, who nurtured his interest in the performing arts, Suvrat pursued his education at Fergusson College, where he actively participated in intercollegiate theater competitions. His talents were acknowledged with the Nirmal Award for Best Actor in Purushottam Karandak during his 12th grade.
Despite initially aspiring to become a journalist, Suvrat, an alumnus of the National School of Drama with a degree in acting and music, entered the world of theater before transitioning to television. His curiosity about acting in front of cameras led him to his first commercial role, portraying Hitler in a play.
In Dil Dosti Duniyadari, he played the role of Sujay Sathe, the knowledgeable owner of Majghar. Following his television stint, Suvrat returned to theater with Amar Photo Studio, featuring fellow Dil Dosti Duniyadari cast members. His film debut in 2018 with Shikari showcased his versatility, portraying a cunning man with a disrespect for women. Subsequently, he appeared in Party, playing a college student in the 90s.
Suvrat’s filmography includes Dokyala Shot, directed by Shivkumar Parthasarathy, where he plays a Maharashtrian groom to a South Indian girl. He debuted as a singer in the same film, singing in Tamil. With over 15 years of involvement in theater, he is currently working on a new play called Shahi Paharedaar. Additionally, he hosted the dance reality show Dance Maharashtra Dance and was part of the series Safe Journeys in 2019.
In his personal life, Suvrat dated his Dil Dosti Duniyadari co-star, Sakhi Gokhale, which was initially a rumor before the couple officially announced their marriage on April 11, 2019.
