Plot
Anweshippin Kandethum explores two murder investigations led by a diligent and principled police officer, SI Anand, and his team.
The story begins with Anand returning to duty after an unexpected suspension, only to find himself caught up in a challenging case. The narrative then shifts to a flashback.
In the flashbacks, Anand’s journey into the police force is revealed, inspired by his retired police officer father, Narayana Pillai. Anand is posted as the Sub Inspector at the Kottayam police station, where his first case involves the disappearance of a Christian girl named Lovely Mathan. During his investigation, Anand discovers that Lovely often visited a nearby vicarage. When he attempts to question the priest, his inquiries are met with resistance from the parishioners. Due to the religious sensitivity surrounding the case, Anand is removed from the investigation, and the corrupt DYSP Alex takes over. However, with the help of forensic experts and his superior officer, SP Rajagopal, Anand conducts his own unofficial investigation. After arresting the culprit, the suspect escapes police custody and commits suicide by jumping in front of a train. Anand and his team are subsequently suspended for their negligence, with Rajagopal, though understanding the truth, unable to do anything about it.
In the present day, Rajagopal assigns Anand to investigate the murder of a young woman named Sridevi. The case leads Anand to Cheruvally, where the investigation faces opposition from villagers and local leaders, who had previously suffered police brutality when the case was first examined. Anand concludes that Raveendran Nair, a retired police constable, murdered Sridevi to prevent her from being in a relationship with his son, Sudeep. Anand uncovers that Nair’s actions were driven by his sense of family honor. However, before he can be arrested, Nair hangs himself.
After solving the case, Anand and his team clear their names and are reinstated to their duties.
