Biography:

Nandalal Krishnamoorthy, known by his stage name Nandu, is an accomplished Indian actor with a career spanning over three decades. He predominantly works in Malayalam cinema and has also made appearances in a few Hindi and Tamil films. Nandu is particularly celebrated for his outstanding performance in the movie “Spirit,” directed by Ranjith, which featured the legendary actor Mohanlal. His remarkable portrayal in this film earned him the prestigious SIIMA award for Best Supporting Actor.

Nandu was born on February 9, 1965, in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He hails from a family with a passion for sports and music, as his father, Krishnamoorthy, was a table tennis coach at the National Institute of Sports, and his mother, Sukumari, was a singer. Tragically, Nandu lost his mother just 60 days after his birth, and he was raised by his uncle and aunt. His father, deeply committed to his profession, never remarried and passed away while teaching table tennis.

The actor made his debut in the film industry with the 1986 movie “Sarvakalasala,” directed by Venu Nagavally. During the early stages of his career, Nandu frequently portrayed roles set in a college backdrop.

On a personal note, Nandu is happily married to Kavitha Nandalal since 1997, and they are blessed with two children, a daughter named Nandita (born in 1999) and a son named Krishan (born in 2013).

While Nandu has been a part of the film industry for over two decades, it was his performance in the movie “Spirit,” in which he shared the screen with Mohanlal, that truly catapulted him into the limelight.
