Avan Ivan

Story:

Author and director Bala, who is directing his fifth feature film with this one, is the creator of the 2011 Indian Tamil-language comic drama film Avan Ivan. The movie stars Vishal and Arya, with supporting performances from Ambika, Janani Iyer, Madhu Shalini, R. K., and G. M. Kumar.

Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music, Arthur A. Wilson took the photos, and Suresh Urs handled the editing for the Kalpathi S. Agoram-produced movie. In Avan Ivan, the bond between two boisterously fun half-brothers is depicted against the backdrop of Theni. It was profitable at the box office, according to Eros International.

Plot

Half-brothers Walter Vanangamudi (Vishal) and Kumbudren Saamy (Arya) are incessantly at odds with one another, always trying to outdo the other. Both brothers receive support from their respective mothers despite being small-time criminals. Maryamma (Ambika), Walter’s mother, urges her son to steal in order to uphold their “family tradition”. But Walter, a feminine wannabe actor, would much prefer pursue the arts than commit crimes.

Thirthapathi (G. M. Kumar), known as “Highness” in the community, is the Zamindar. He develops a strong bond with Saamy and Walter and treats them as members of his own family. Walter receives frequent encouragement from him to pursue acting professionally and show his brother some friendliness.

After being challenged by his brother to prove himself, Walter tries to steal from Police Constable Baby (Janani Iyer), from whom he is enamored. She finds him hilarious beyond belief and ends herself falling in love.

He goes over and above to impress Saamy and prevent her from being rejected by returning a number of stolen items from both his house and Saamy. Saamy develops feelings for Thenmozhi (Madhu Shalini), a college student who at first finds his hard ways intimidating but ultimately shows affection in return.

One day, Saamy and Walter find and discipline Chevvalai Rasu, a police inspector, for insulting Thirthapathi. Saamy gets apprehended by the police inspector while Walter steals the police truck and throws it into the wilderness. In order to visit Thenmozhi once before being sent to prison, he pretends as though he swallowed a blade. He is hurried to the hospital, where he sees her and connives to trick all the police, though Baby is really suspicious.

The police constable learns about Saamy’s attempt to buy the doctor’s deception and only makes an attempt to reason with him before giving up and releasing him. In support of his Agaram Foundation, actor Suriya visits a school function in the town. When he is about to depart, Thirthapathi asks him to stay so that he can see Walter’s acting prowess.

Walter dazzles everyone with his portrayals of the nine emotions, or navarasas, and especially moves Saamy to tears. Saamy tells Thirthapathi later on, during inebriated celebrations, that all the hate and hostility is only a show and that he truly does love his brother.

Thirthapathi (R. K.) exposes the illicit operations of a livestock smuggler in the meantime. The smuggler is arrested by the authorities after losing his animal farm. To acquaint them with one another, Saamy takes Thenmozhi to Thirthapathi’s residence. Saamy was not aware that Thenmozhi is the daughter of Thirthapathi’s opponent, but Walter does, regrettably.

Saamy verbally abuses Thirthapathi and refuses to end their relationship. Telling him that no one loves him and that he has no family of his own, he says he would not understand. Thirthapathi, enraged, dismisses Saamy. In defending his brother, Walter was banished as well. Thirthapathi consumes a lot of alcohol.

Afterwards, both brothers reconcile with Thirthapathi and extend an invitation for him to stay at their house. Even yet, Thirthapathi voluntarily gives Thenmozhi’s father, who has been attempting to obtain his land, a signed copy of his land. In addition, he plans their union. A few days later, Thirthapathi is abducted by the smuggler, who then strips him nude in the rain, beats him until he passes out, and hangs him from a tree.

Saamy and Walter are inconsolable. Walter succeeds in battering the smuggler and his men while Saamy, in an attempt to exact revenge, is seriously injured and gets flogged. The smuggler is seen tied down beneath the stage holding Thirthapathi’s remains during her cremation. He and Thirthapathi’s body are burnt alive together while the brothers dance once more.
