Biography:

Suresh Urs is a prominent Indian film editor renowned for his extensive work in the South Indian film industry. He boasts an impressive portfolio, having edited over 700 films and worked on 40 documentaries and television programs. Urs is highly regarded for his collaborations with esteemed directors such as Girish Karnad, Mani Ratnam, Shankar Nag, T. S. Nagabharana, Girish Kasaravalli, P. Vasu, Bala, Saran, and Baraguru Ramachandrappa.

One of the significant highlights of Suresh Urs’ career was his National Film Award for Best Editing, which he received for his exceptional work in the film “Bombay” in 1995. His talent and expertise have also earned him numerous other accolades, including five Karnataka State Film Awards and two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of film editing, he was honored with the Karnataka State Rajyotsava Prashasti and the Lifetime Achievement Vishnuvardhan Award by the Karnataka Government in 2014.

Born in Kolagala, H.D.Kote taluk, Karnataka, Suresh Urs is the son of K C Chamaraje Urs, a farmer, and Devajammanni. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming a celebrated film editor is a testament to his dedication and remarkable skill in the world of cinema.
