As an assistant, P. Vasu worked with the director C. V. Sridhar. A co-director on films like Panneer Pushpangal (1981), Madhu Malar (1981), Mella Pesungal (1983), Sahasame Jeevitham (1984), and Needhiyin Nizhal (1985), Vasu began his career with Santhana Bharathi. We made some compromises because we had various perspectives on the matter. Because of this, several of our other films didn’t perform well at the box office, which drove us to forge our own paths, according to Vasu. Additionally, Vasu was more interested in producing commercial pictures, whilst Bharathi desired producing other kinds of films.
He has starred in blockbuster films throughout his career, including Panakkaran (1990), Nadigan (1990), Chinna Thambi (1991), Mannan (1992), Walter Vetrivel (1993), and Sethupathi IPS (1994). After a string of failures, the director experienced a career slump in the mid-1990s. This was due to his high-budget romantic musical Love Birds (1996). He has worked with nearly all of the big stars and has produced films in each of the four South Indian languages.
Vasu started out as an actor in the 2000s as well. He frequently plays a supporting or opposing role. His directed flicks Chandramukhi (2005) had a record run of 800 days and more, and Apthamithra (2004) went on to surpass the year mark. elated with the enormous success of his 2010 Kannada film Aptharakshaka, which also happens to be Vishnuvardhan’s final endeavour. He finished the Telugu remake of the 2010 movie Nagavalli (Chandramukhi 2), which stars Venkatesh in the titular character. Chandramukhi 2 was originally going to be a Tamil remake of the movie starring Rajinikanth. The idea, however, never materialised because the actor was preoccupied with Shankar’s Enthiran (2010).
P Vasu had planned to cast Kamal Haasan in a triple action part in a movie soon after Chandramukhi’s enormous popularity. Kamal Haasan was unable to accept the part because of his commitment to Dasavathaaram (2008), in which he had to play ten different characters. With the help of his son Shakthi, Vasu produced the 2007 movie Thottal Poo Malarum. The young actor has experience acting; he performed in his father’s films when he was a young boy.
In Shivalinga (2017), the actor Raghava Lawrence collaborates with the filmmaker for the first time, and it’s for the horror-comedy version of Vasu’s 2016 Kannada smash Shivalinga. Shivalinga is salvaged thanks to Vadivelu’s humour and the way it is marketed as a family-friendly movie. He also stars alongside Shiva Rajkumar as Vasu in the 2019 film Ayushman Bhava.
