Naga Shaurya, an Indian actor, producer, and writer who specialises in Telugu film, was born on January 22, 1989. In 2011, he made his acting debut in the Telugu movie Cricket, Girls, and Beer. After that, he starred in Chandamama Kathalu (2014), anthology movie that won the National Film Award.
In later years, Shaurya appeared in a number of popular films, including Oohalu Gusagusalade (2014), Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya (2014), Kalyana Vaibhogame (2016), Jyo Achyutananda (2016), Chalo (2018), Oh! Baby (2019), Ashwathama (2020),[2] Varudu Kaavalenu (2021), and Lakshya (2021).
On January 22, 1989, Naga Shaurya was born in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. He resided in Vijayawada for a while before relocating to Hyderabad to pursue his acting career. He played tennis before making his way into the film business.
He faced a difficult period of almost five years before landing his initial role. During this time, he shared, “Whenever I was close to securing a film role, something would disrupt the process, leaving me back where I began.” He expressed his disappointment and contemplated returning to his parents. However, his fortunes changed when he spotted an advertisement by Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, a film production company that was casting for Srinivas Avasarala’s romantic comedy “Oohalu Gusagusalade.” He submitted his portfolio, though without much optimism. Surprisingly, he was chosen for the lead role.
While working on “Oohalu Gusagusalade,” he was also selected for a part in “Chandamama Kathalu,” marking his first film release. This anthology movie showcased Shaurya as part of an ensemble cast, with his character having about 20 minutes of screen time.
“Oohalu Gusagusalade” was released two months later and achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success. Reviewers praised Shaurya’s performance, noting his commendable portrayal and suitability for the role of the boy next door. In the same year, he appeared in “Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya,” another romantic comedy with a triangular love story. Critics lauded his performance, highlighting his ability to convey the innocence of a teenager and his later emotional turmoil effectively.
Shaurya’s subsequent films in 2016 included “Abbayitho Ammayi,” “Kalyana Vaibhogame,” “Oka Manasu,” “Jyo Achyutananda,” and “Nee Jathaleka.” Among these, “Kalyana Vaibhogame” and “Jyo Achyutananda” achieved success.
In 2018, he featured in four films, including the successful “Chalo.” However, “Diya,” “Ammammagarillu,” and “Nartanasala” did not fare well at the box office. “Oh! Baby,” released in 2019 alongside Samantha Akkineni, garnered positive reviews and surpassed $1 million at the US box office. His 2020 thriller “Aswathama,” produced by his own banner Ira Creations, proved to be a profitable venture.
In 2021, he had two releases, “Varudu Kaavalenu” and “Lakshya.” While the former had an average performance, “Lakshya” struggled at the box office. Both films started streaming on January 7, 2022, via ZEE5 and aha platforms, respectively.
On November 20, 2022, Naga Shaurya wed Anusha Shetty in Bangalore.
