Plot
The tale begins with a man entering a prison cell. Another inmate inquires about his background, prompting the man to narrate his story. He reveals that he is Hari’s father, a young man with a penchant for brawls. When Hari was a child, his father would allow him to engage in fights whenever he cried, which delighted him. As Hari grew older, he became involved in numerous altercations. The police warned Hari’s parents that they would be penalized if he continued his unruly behavior. In an attempt to reform him, they decided to send Hari to Tirupur, a place known for frequent brawls, hoping he would tire of them.
Upon enrolling in college, Hari participates in a fight between Tamil and Telugu students in a shed behind the campus. Inadvertently aiding the Tamil group, he befriends them and meets Karthika, who is present at the fights and captures his heart. Over time, Karthika reciprocates his feelings but insists that he obtain her parents’ approval for their marriage. However, Hari unwittingly assists an adversary of Karthika’s father and discovers a longstanding feud between the Tamil and Telugu communities in the village dating back to 1953, with Karthika being Tamil herself.
