Aswathama

Story:

“Aswathama” is a 2020 Indian Telugu-language action thriller film directed by debutant Ramana Teja, based on a story written by Naga Shourya. The film was produced by Usha Mulpuri under the Ira Creations banner. It features Naga Shourya, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mehreen Pirzada in the lead roles, with Sargun Kaur Luthra, Harish Uthaman, Prince Cecil, and Jayaprakash in supporting roles. The film’s score was composed by Ghibran, with the soundtrack by Sricharan Pakala.

“Aswathama” was released on January 31, 2020, and garnered positive reviews from critics.

Plot

Gana returns to Visakhapatnam, India for his sister Priya’s wedding and is shocked to discover her attempting suicide. He later learns she is pregnant but doesn’t know who impregnated her. Gana confides in Priya’s fiancé Ravi, who helps her get an abortion and promises to keep it secret. Gana encourages Priya to move on, and she eventually marries happily.

After the wedding, Gana aggressively confronts men who had troubled Priya, but none are responsible for her pregnancy. Another woman named Sadhana, who was similarly impregnated, commits suicide, leaving a note saying she was unaware of how it happened. Gana investigates and finds that several girls, including Sadhana, were admitted to the hospital under similar circumstances. Gana discovers that these girls were abducted and molested by a man named Dr. Manoj Kumar, who used a banned drug to induce unconsciousness.

Gana rescues a girl with the help of his girlfriend Neha, and they uncover Dr. Manoj’s involvement in the abductions. They also learn about Dr. Manoj’s troubled past, where he was abused by his father, leading to his psychopathic tendencies. In a confrontation, Gana defeats Dr. Manoj, who dies in the struggle. Gana’s father then pranks him into believing Priya is facing harassment, only for Gana to discover that she is pregnant with Ravi’s child.
