Biography:

Geetha is a renowned Indian actress known for her work in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi films, as well as South Indian television serials. Her career began with the Tamil film “Bairavi” in 1978, where she played Rajinikanth’s sister. Her talent quickly propelled her into over 200 films across major South Indian languages and a few Hindi films. Geetha has received numerous accolades, including two Filmfare Awards South, a Karnataka State Film Award, and Kerala State Film Awards.

One of Geetha’s standout performances was in the 1986 Malayalam film “Panchagni,” where she portrayed the character of Indira, based on the true-life story of Naxalite revolutionary Ajitha. This role earned her critical acclaim and solidified her status as a prominent actress in Malayalam cinema. Her notable collaborations include working with actors like Mammootty and Mohanlal. In Kannada cinema, Geetha shared the screen with legends like Rajkumar, Ananth Nag, Vishnuvardhan, and Ambareesh, contributing to several memorable films.

Geetha’s career also extended to television, where she appeared in Tamil serials like “Kai Alavu Manasu” and “Engirindho Vanthaal.” She even took a break from acting after her marriage in 1997 to Vasan Thatham, an American CPA and Indian Chartered accountant. However, she made a successful comeback in 2003, portraying roles such as the hero’s mother in movies like “Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana,” “Okkadu,” “Pournami,” “Unakkum Enakkum,” “Santosh Subramaniam,” “Azhagiya Tamil Magan,” and “Masters.” Geetha and her husband reside in New Jersey and have a son born in 1999.
