Plot
Laura “Lo” Blacklock, an investigative journalist recuperating from the horror of witnessing a source’s death, is invited by terminally sick wealthy Anne Bullmer. Lo goes to a fundraising dinner in Norway with Anne, her husband Richard, and their affluent friends on their opulent superyacht to write about the Bullmers’ new charity.
In order to avoid her ex-boyfriend Ben, a photographer for the Bullmers, Lo hides in Cabin 10 on the first night at sea. There, she meets an enigmatic blonde woman. Following dinner, Anne gives Lo a draft of the speech she intends to give at the gala to announce she is donating her fortune and confides in her that she has stopped taking her medication. Lo discovers a bloody handprint near Cabin 10 and sees someone go overboard that night after waking up to a woman’s scream. She notifies the ship, but the handprint has vanished, no one is staying in Cabin 10, and every passenger is present.
As the journey goes on, Anne seems to lose track of her previous discussion with Lo, attributing it to her medication. Lo notices the blonde woman in Ben’s pictures of a party that fellow traveler Adam went to, but he says he doesn’t recall her. “STOP” is written on Lo’s steamy shower door at the spa. Lo finds out that the ship’s security cameras have been turned off for privacy, and Adam, who is close by, denies writing it. Lo sneaks inside Cabin 10 and conceals the evidence in her own cabin after discovering blonde hair in the washbasin drain. She confides in Ben, but after discovering a button on the floor, she believes her room has been searched.
Lo almost drowns after being shoved off the upper deck and into the pool. When her coat is laundered, she discovers that Anne’s doctor, Robert Mehta, is missing a button, and the hair and button vanish. The annoyed visitors don’t trust Lo’s allegations, and the crew won’t respond to her enquiries. After locking herself in her room, Lo follows the woman from Cabin 10 to the engine room after spotting her in the hallway. The woman knocks Lo unconscious and conceals her in a storage area, pleading with her to stop her research.
Lo understands that Richard would be disinherited and that a lookalike would be set up to pass for Anne. The woman from Cabin 10, Carrie, admits that Richard had recruited her to pose as Anne and give him her riches. On the first night, after speaking with Lo in private, Anne found Richard kissing Carrie. Richard then killed her and disposed of her body in the ocean. After signing Anne’s amended will, Lo threatens to kill Carrie, who desperately needs the promised money to support her family.
Carrie hears As the other guests depart in Norway, Ben returns to the ship and Richard gives Dr. Mehta the order to locate and murder Lo. Mehta and the ship’s complicit captain corner Lo, but Ben saves him by giving him a fatal injection. Mehta tells Richard that she could not have survived the icy waters, but Lo jumps overboard and swims to shore. Carrie unwillingly signs the new will while pretending to be Anne, shocking Anne’s lawyer and raising suspicions from Sigrid Nilssen, Anne’s bodyguard. While Lo tells Nilssen about Anne’s murder and offers to establish Richard’s guilt, Richard gets ready to have Carrie killed.
After interrupting Richard in front of the entire gala, Lo delivers Anne’s speech, which reveals that Richard will no longer get her money, with Carrie’s help. Carrie is taken captive at knifepoint by Richard, who, in a desperate attempt to prove that she is not Anne, runs to the dock. Lo kills Richard with a nearby crank before he can kill Carrie after Nilssen gets a firearm and wounds Richard in the shoulder. Carrie goes back to her daughter’s house after Lo publishes her exposé on Richard’s crimes, which results in Mehta and the captain being imprisoned for Ben and Anne’s murders.
