Telugu cinema producer Devi Vara Prasad, aka DVP, is well-known for his work. Born in Vijayawada, India on December 6, 1943, he finished his engineering studies in Tumkur, Karnataka. Tirupatayya, his father, is a film distributor and a friend of N.T. Rama Rao, who pushed him to pursue a career in film.
NTR called him after his father passed away from a heart attack, inquiring about his ambitions and suggesting that he start making movies. In the end, he produced Kathanayakuni Katha (1975), his debut motion picture.
After more than three years, Devi produced KD No. 1 (1978), his next picture. Even though Tirugu Leni Manishi (1981), his third movie, had a strong plot and cast, it was a box office disaster. Devi’s final film with NTR was Tirugu Leni Manishi.
After that, he collaborated with Chiranjeevi on the Telugu movies Gharana Mogudu (1992), Chattamtho Poratam (1985), and Kondaveeti Raja (1986). The latter was the most successful movie released under his brand, Devi Films, with box office receipts of nearly ₹10 crore.
One of the most significant developments in Chiranjeevi’s career was Gharana Mogudu. In 1995, he reunited with Chiranjeevi for the very contentious Tollywood film Alluda Majaka. The Board debated banning the movie because of its graphic content
But Chiranjeevi’s supporters staged a demonstration. As a result, the Board demanded that some offensive scenes be edited rather than outright banning the movie. It becomes a huge box office success and plays for 100 days in more than 47 theaters.
Working on the action adventure movie Mrugaraju (2001), which was based on Stephen Hopkins’ The Ghost and the Darkness, Devi collaborated with Chiranjeevi in 2001. Devi has also collaborated with Aswini Dutt
Allu Aravind on the 1991 film Amma Rajinama and the 1989 film Bhale Donga, starring Balakrishna. Bhajantrilu, his final motion picture, was released in 2007. On December 10, 2011, he passed away from respiratory illnesses. His relatives and friends attended his final ceremonies, which were held in Vijayawada.
