American television and film producer Ellen Lee Goldsmith-Vein (née Goldsmith) was born in 1963. She started the management firm Gotham Group in 1993 and serves as its CEO. As the sole female proprietor of a management firm, Goldsmith-Vein was the first talent manager to appear on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Power 100” special issue in 2006.
Following the passing of Stuart Kaplan, her Atlas Management partner, in 1993, Goldsmith-Vein established the Gotham Group, a multifaceted management and production firm catering to the entertainment sector. The Gotham Group and Michael Ovitz’s Artist Management Group amalgamated in 1999, five years later. In 2008, she and The Weinstein Company, as CEO of The Gotham Group, inked a $300 million deal with the South Korean government to produce eight animated films.
