TheatreStory:
Priyanka Chopra, Karl Urban, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, and Temuera Morrison star in Frank E. Flowers’ 2026 swashbuckler action thriller film The Bluff, which was written by Flowers and Joe Ballarini. AGBO, Cinestar Pictures, and Purple Pebble Pictures are the producers. On February 25, 2026, it was made available on Amazon Prime Video. Ercell Bodden, a former pirate, leads a calm life on Cayman Brac with her sister-in-law Elizabeth, who is unaware of her history, and her crippled son Isaac. Ercell is waiting for her husband T.H., a sea captain, to return; his ship is 59 days overdue.
In pursuit of Ercell, pirate Connor travels to Cayman Brac. After being kidnapped by Connor as a youth, Ercell joined his crew in order to survive. He later fell in love with the infamous pirate Bloody Mary and betrayed Connor by stealing his gold stash. The majority of the island’s defenders, including Elizabeth’s fiancée, are killed by Connor’s troops, but Ercell, Isaac, and Elizabeth escape into the bush. Connor informs her that her spouse is being held after a brief altercation. Isaac and Elizabeth follow Ercell to The Bluff and a secret system of caverns that she has converted into a hideout.
Before setting out on her own to save her spouse, she tells Isaac and Elizabeth about her history as a pirate and shows them the gold stash. Ercell finds T.H. after breaking into Connor’s camp, but he is unable to set him free. In public, she approaches Connor and his men and demands her husband’s release in return for the riches she had brought. Ercell escapes, but the transaction goes wrong, killing T.H. and blowing up the riches. Even though the money has been lost, Connor assures his remaining soldiers that if they apprehend Ercell, they may bring her in for a pardon that will clear their names and restore their freedom.
Ercell is tracked to the tunnels by Connor and his men, but with the aid of Isaac and Elizabeth, she uses the darkness and traps she had set up to kill them all. Connor proposes to Ercell that they resolve their disagreement outside in the light “like buccaneers” since they are now alone. Connor and Ercell engage in a sword combat on top of The Bluff; Connor overcomes Ercell, but Elizabeth shoots him before he can kill her. Ercell kills Connor by stabbing him with her sword. While Isaac learns that Ercell had hidden some of the gold on a yacht, Ercell tells Elizabeth that her true name is Mariam. A British fleet appears on the horizon as the survivors of Cayman Brac emerge from concealment.
