Gary Beadle
Biography:
British actor Gary Beadle was born on July 8, 1965. Beadle was baptized a Roman Catholic and raised as one of five children in Bermondsey, South London, England. When he was younger, he and his older brother Rikki worked for the Southwark London Borough Council on a production of the 1976 youth musical-gangster movie Bugsy Malone. Gary portrayed janitor Fizzy under the direction of Rikki, who played Talula. Rikki attempted to invite Alan Parker, the director of the first movie, to the show, but his assistant showed up and used her contacts to get Rikki, Gary, and their younger sister into the local Anna Scher Theatre School.
Beadle relocated to New York City in his early twenties after falling in love with hip hop, particularly Run-D.M.C. and the Sugarhill Gang. Together with “Little Stevie Bee,” he founded the rap group The City Limits Crew after returning to London under the stage name “Pretty Boy Gee.” The two 12″ singles “Keep It On” (with “The Mutant Rockers”) and “Fresher Than Ever” were issued by the pair on the independent label Survival Records in 1985. That year, the group also performed at Electro Rock, an international hip-hop event at the Hippodrome, and recorded a session for John Peel on BBC Radio 1.
