Ottesi Cheputunna

Story:

In 2003, director E. Satthi Babu brought us “Ottesi Cheputunna” (translated as “I swear and tell that”), a romantic comedy-drama in Telugu. The cast includes Srikanth, Kaniha (credited as Sravanthi), Sivaji, and Sunil. Vidyasagar handled the music, and A. Sreekar Prasad took care of the editing. The film hit the screens on April 11, 2003.

Plot

Surya, the sole child of affectionate parents, perceives himself as unfortunate due to a tendency to lose things he desires. After losing both parents in a car accident, he finds himself in an orphanage. Over time, he rises to the role of assistant manager in Corporation Bank, while his childhood friend Nela Baludu joins as a peon.

Nela Baludu informs Surya of an upcoming promotion to manager, which doesn’t materialize, leaving Surya discontent. In a moment of frustration, Surya, inebriated, discovers a torn letter with a photo of a mysterious girl at his house. The next day, realizing the girl’s beauty, he learns of his promotion and deems her his lucky charm. Nela Baludu dismisses it as mere coincidence until they spot the girl on TV, leading to a favorable outcome in Surya’s family property dispute.

Determined to find and marry the girl, Divya, Surya offers his flat to Nela Baludu for help. They locate Divya in Gachibowli and discover she is already in love with Dileep. Surya, joining as Dileep’s roommate, helps Divya by finding Dileep a job in Dubai. However, Dileep’s love for Rani, due to her wealth, complicates matters. Surya, sacrificing his own love, supports Dileep’s love for Divya.

Despite Nela Baludu’s disapproval, Surya stands by Dileep, unaware of Dileep’s deceit. When Rani proposes elopement, Dileep chooses Divya but lies to Rani. Divya and Dileep’s wedding is fixed, and a chance meeting between Rani and Divya reveals the deception. Dileep’s lies are exposed at the wedding, leading to Divya realizing Surya’s sacrifices. In the end, Divya and Surya unite.
