TheatreAdios Amigo is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language comedy-drama film directed by Nahas Nazar and written by Thankam. The film features Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu in lead roles. The story follows two men who meet at a bus stop and decide to travel together. Without a fixed destination, they explore various places and spend time together, forming a unique bond along the way.
Plot
The story revolves around Sathpriyan, known as Priyan, a middle-aged man struggling with financial troubles. Priyan’s life takes a turn when his mother is hospitalized, and only his sister, Minimol, is there to support her. Desperate to pay the medical bills, Priyan seeks help from friends and relatives, but his outstanding debts prevent anyone from lending him money. Finally, a man named Sojan agrees to help on the condition that Priyan provides a guarantee cheque. They plan to meet the next morning to complete the exchange.
At the bus station, where Priyan waits for Sojan, he encounters Prince, a wealthy but aimless young man estranged from his family. Prince, often drunk and reckless, convinces Priyan to join him on a spontaneous bus ride, arguing that waiting is futile. Reluctantly, Priyan agrees.
Their journey takes them to a clothing store where Prince hopes to meet Hema, his ex-girlfriend. However, Hema refuses to see him, disillusioned by his alcoholism. Priyan intervenes, and Hema agrees to meet Prince only when he is sober. That night, the two check into a luxury hotel, with Priyan enjoying the comforts while Prince recovers from his drunken state.
The next day, Priyan helps Prince sober up, and they visit Hema. During their conversation, Hema and Prince confront their shared traumatic past—a major accident that left Hema with a lost leg and Prince bedridden for months. Finding closure, they part on good terms. Grateful for Priyan’s support, Prince continues traveling with him, spending the rest of his money.
As their funds run out, Prince tries borrowing from friends and family, only to be blocked by his father. Priyan, meanwhile, shares his mother’s worsening condition. Understanding Priyan’s plight, Prince tries to get his wife Rini to transfer ₹50,000, but she refuses due to his prolonged absence. With no other options, the two decide to part ways, and Priyan heads back to his mother.
However, Prince soon returns with a rented car, offering to help. They visit Prince’s sister and her husband, the Mayor of Kochi, but receive no assistance. Left stranded after paying the driver with the little money borrowed from Sojan, Priyan is urged to abandon Prince and focus on his mother, but he refuses to leave his friend.
After spending the night on the roadside, they wake up near Prince’s house. Priyan boards a bus to see his mother, while Prince returns home. Just as Priyan departs, he learns that Rini has transferred ₹50,000 to his account. Overjoyed, Priyan rushes back to share the news with Prince. The two share a moment of happiness before Priyan departs to care for his mother.
