Biography:

Kurumaddali Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, widely recognized by his stage name Suthi Velu, was a celebrated Indian actor and comedian renowned for his contributions to Telugu cinema. He enjoyed a prolific career, appearing in over 200 films and earning four state Nandi Awards for his remarkable performances. Suthi Velu’s early life was marked by his deep-seated interest in drama and acting. He demonstrated his passion for the craft from a young age, even performing on stage in his hometown at the tender age of 7. Despite initial discouragement from his father, he pursued his dream of becoming an actor.

Suthi Velu officially embarked on his film career with his debut in “Mudda Mandaaram” in 1981. He became widely known for his impeccable comedic timing, expressions, and memorable dialogues, particularly in the comedy films directed by Jandhyala. His partnership with Suthi Veerabhadra Rao was immensely popular, earning them the moniker “Suthi Janta.” Notably, he gained his stage name, Suthi Velu, from one of his neighbors who affectionately referred to him as “Velu” in his childhood due to his slender build. This nickname eventually became his identity in the industry, especially after his remarkable role in the film “Nalugu Stambhalata” in 1982. Suthi Velu also ventured into popular Telugu comedy serials, enhancing his reputation as a versatile and beloved entertainer.

In his personal life, Suthi Velu was married to Lakshmi Rajyam and had four children, comprising three daughters and a son. Sadly, he passed away due to a cardiac arrest at his residence on 16 September 2012, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and memorable performances in Telugu cinema.
