Biography:

Kalaipuli S. Thanu is a prominent Indian film producer, director, and distributor known for his contributions to Tamil cinema. He has produced numerous successful films through his companies, V Creations and Kalaipuli Films International. Several of his movies have achieved commercial success, with three of them ranking among the top-ten highest-grossing Tamil films. His exceptional work in the industry has earned him two National Film Awards, two Cinema Express Awards, and one Filmfare Awards South.

In his personal life, Thanu is married to Kala, and they have a son named Kalaprabhu, who made his directorial debut with “Sakkarakatti” in 2008. They also have a daughter named Kavitha.

Thanu’s journey in the film industry began as a film financier and distributor. He later became a producer and partnered with S. Thanu and Soori at Kalaipuli Films, with their debut production being “Yaar?” in 1985. He also started his own company, V. Creations, and went on to produce successful films like “Cooliekkaran,” “Nallavan,” and “Pudhu Padagan.” His film “Vanna Vanna Pookkal,” directed by Balu Mahendra, even won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil.

Throughout his career, Thanu collaborated with prominent actors like Vijayakanth, Suriya, Vijay, and Dhanush, producing hit films such as “Kaakha Kaakha,” “Thuppakki,” and “Asuran.” He achieved a significant milestone by partnering with Rajinikanth for the first time in “Kabali” in 2016.
