After defeating Ravana with Goddess Sita, Lord Rama goes to Ayodhya to be crowned emperor and leads a peaceful life. He asks Lakshmana to see to it that Sita is banished after his spies warn him that his reputation might be in jeopardy because Sita has been in Ravana’s Lanka for more than a year. After Valmiki saves a distressed, pregnant, and devastated Sita, he renames her Lokapavni and brings her to his Ashram, where she gives birth to twin boys, Lava and Kusha. Along with Sita, Lord Hanuman serves her as the tribal child Balaraju. They receive training from Valmiki in all facets of life, including knowledge, combat, and religion.
Ten years later, the twins choose to travel to a famine- and drought-ravaged Ayodhya in order to recite the Ramayan and receive the blessings of Srirama and Sita. However, when they arrive, they discover that Srirama has banished Sita, which depresses them. They return home distraught and decide not to repeat the Ramayan again. Unaware that they will soon find themselves in a fight with Lakshman, Rama, and the entire Ayodhya army, the twins stop the Aswamedha horse. They then discover that Rama is indeed their father.
