Socha Na Tha

Story:

Imtiaz Ali made his directorial debut with the 2005 Hindi-language romantic comedy Socha Na Tha (translates to “Never Had Thought”). Ayesha Takia and debutant Abhay Deol star in the movie. Positive reviews were given to the picture when it was released on March 4, 2005. Premante Inthe (2006) is a Telugu remake of the movie.

Aditi and Viren are introduced by their families, but Viren declines to get married since he wants to wed Karen, his three-year girlfriend. Because Aditi’s aunt feels embarrassed by Viren’s rejection, there is friction between the families. However, Aditi and Viren meet by chance, click right away, and Viren asks Aditi to go to Goa with him so she can see whether or not his girlfriend Karen loves him.

Karen observes the two of them becoming closer in Goa. Viren acknowledges that he has fallen in love with Aditi, but he is already getting ready for his own wedding to Karen. Things become more problematic because he had to fight hard to get engaged to Karen because he is Hindu and she is Christian. He still desires to wed Aditi, who has also fallen in love with him. Aditi, however, turns him down out of consideration for her aunt and uncle, who have proposed to her to Mahesh, her intermittent partner. Following a number of conversations, Viren eventually moves past Aditi, tells Karen the truth, and moves on with his life, feeling depressed.

Karen encounters Aditi on the day of their engagement and inquires as to why, given Viren and Karen’s breakup, she is not marrying him. She is also informed by Karen that Viren is unhappy. After hearing this exchange, her cousin persuades Aditi to elope with Viren, which she does. They are accepted after apologizing to their families.
